Burton Street Community Peace Garden / Peace Gardens & Market

Created and maintained by DeWayne Barton and Safi Martin of Hood Huggers International and Peace Gardens & Market, this beautiful setting is dedicated to peace and nature in Asheville’s Burton Street neighborhood. ACA is thrilled to offer puppet shows, arts classes and public art making projects in collaboration with the youth of Hood Huggers Under Instruction program. Public art making is generously supported, in part, by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts’ creative place making program, Our Town (2022-24).

The Blue Note Junction

Building on over 20 years of foundational work within this legacy neighborhood, Hood Huggers International, Peace Gardens & Market, and Asheville Creative Arts are partnering to create a one-of-a-kind health and business incubator. Part cultural center, part neighborhood spa, part event venue, part buy-local retail – this all-inclusive space incorporates business and entrepreneurial development at every level, with an additional commitment to reinvest profits back into BIPOC neighborhoods and endeavors throughout the Asheville region.
